JN: We were under contract with iHeartMedia for a number of years. When that contract ended, we wanted to go independent, but we couldn’t take the Poog name, with the way it was written. We chose independence, even though it meant leaving our name behind and having to start fresh from zero with a new RSS feed. So we became Berlant & Novak for a time, while keeping the spirit of Poog in the minds of our listeners, until we finally reached a deal that allowed us to be Poog once again, but independent.
